Will You Help?

Will you help educate the voters who will win this for President Obama?

Mitt is Mean PAC is the only political organization that has been endorsed by Dogs Against Romney that is legally able to spend money to do voter outreach.

Our mission is to educate the 8 million pet owning undecided swing state swing voters by means of effective advertising and voter contact.

The PR around the Seamus issue has been great, but still hasn’t broken through to non-political junkies.

Most people still haven’t heard about this and won’t unless we run a very targeted campaign to educate them.

We can’t do this with out money, and we have no billionaire backers. We only have you.

Please chip in $3 0r $5 if you can to help get the message out to pet owning swing voters

Mean Mitt: Women & Children Last

As if we needed any more proof that Mitt Romney is bad for American pets, American families. and American jobs, senior Romney Advisor Eric Fehnrstrom makes clear that Romney stands with the extremist, ultra-conservative, GOP Mean Machine and their “women and children last” agenda.

Says Fehnrstrom of boss Mitt “He’s for the Ryan plan. He believes it goes in the right direction. … At least the Paul Ryan plan puts us on a path toward a balanced budget. It gets those annual deficits down, in a way that this president has been unable to do.’

The problem with that?

The Ryan plan will cut taxes on millionaires and billionaires, add trillions to the debt, and cut federal funding for prenatal care, school lunches and health insurance for children, and make huge cuts to food stamps, low-income housingPell Grants and aid to women and children.

What’s more, over the next decade, he would cut more than $700 billion from Medicaid and convert the program into an underfunded block grant to the states.

The Ryan budget provide millionaires with an additional $265,000 in tax breaks, in addition to the $129,000from the Bush tax cuts.

The Bottom Line:

Taxes  go down for the millionaires and billionaires funding Mean Mitt’s campaign and the GOP Mean Machine political operations, and go up for ours and our neighbors families.

Brad Bannon on Mother’s Day with Mean Mitt – POLITICO.COM

What a way to celebrate Mother’s Day?

Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a budget resolution, HR 5652, that shows just how mean, Mitt Romney and his Republican budget buddies are to moms.

The mean-spirited Ryan budget, named after Romney’s budget buddy, Rep. Paul Ryan, would cut federal funding for prenatal care, school lunches and health insurance for children in order to maintain tax breaks for bankers and billionaires. The House budget is just another attempt by Mitt Romney and the GOP Mean Machine to brutalize working families, women and children in particular. It’s not a very nice way for the GOP to honor mothers just before their big day.

The GOP budget also maintains military spending even with wars in Iraq and Afghanistan winding down. The Romney/Ryan budget is a cruel, callous and calculated effort by Republicans to balance the budget on the backs of women and children without cutting corporate welfare for oil companies and defense contractors. If the Romney/Ryan budget was the Titanic, you would hear the cry “of women and children last.”

This budget is Mitt being mean to moms. It would cut taxes for Romney and his fellow millionaires but cut aid to kids. But what else can you expect from a man who put the family dog in a crate on top of his car for a 12 hour ride? Or from a guy who bullied his classmate because he might have been gay?

Nice guy, Mitt.

GOP: Shield Pentagon, Cut poverty programs

David Rogers – POLITICO.com

…House Republicans pushed ahead Monday evening with plans to protect increased defense spending without raising taxes, largely by cutting more from domestic programs, including aid to the poor.

The stark choices incorporated in the giant bill will have an immediate impact on working-class and immigrant families and offer a preview of the fall campaign and bitter budget fights facing Congress after the elections.

Mitt is Mean Celebrates National Pet Week

Boston, MA-People all across America will stop today during National Pet Week to consider their devotion to own pets. Voters will also stop and think about the way that Mitt Romney treated his own pet, Seamus.

You may have heard the story. In 1983, the Romney family took a vacation and drove 12 hours to Canada from the Romney mansion in Massachusetts. During the entire trip, the family’s Irish setter, Seamus was exiled to a crate strapped on top of the family station wagon.

Neil McCarthy with Frenchie, his rescue dog

Neil McCarthy, the chairman of Mitt is Mean stated “When I think about my own dog, French and my cat, Mrs. Beasley, I wonder how poor Seamus felt on his long journey to Canada in a crate.” McCarthy went on to say that “Americans should take the time during National Pet Week to ask themselves, if they want a guy who treats his own dog so badly to be president.”

Brad Bannon, the spokesman for Mitt is Mean said “Mitt is a mean dude. I hope he spends some time this week during National Pet Week to think about the way he treated Seamus. But I don’t think he will”.

“Mitt Is Mean” Super PAC: Neil McCarthy Defends Dogs & People

Neil McCarthy & French, his blind rescue dog

April 28, 2012

By anyone’s measure, Neil McCarthy is a successful guy. A Yale-educated lawyer, onetime candidate for Congress and former executive vice-chair of the New York State Democratic Party, Neil still identifies with the stratum of society he was born into: the middle-income middle class.

That huge group of Americans is in danger of losing even more economic ground if Mitt Romney is elected president this November, says Neil. That’s why he’s now the chairman of Mitt Is Mean, a super PAC founded just over a month ago to raise $1 million from animal lovers who want to defeat Romney. Mitt Is Mean will use the funds to make videos and show them in swing states, in an effort to alert people to Mitt Romney’s callous and uncaring nature.

Yes, the name of the super PAC owes something to the efforts of Scott Crider, who sells t-shirts, bumper stickers and other items bearing the slogan “Mitt Is Mean” on his website, DogsAgainstRomney.com. Scott is a volunteer advisor to Mitt Is Mean.

Lighthearted though its name may be, Neil McCarthy is completely serious about the super PAC’s purpose. And he regards the story of Mitt Romney’s 1983 12-hour drive to Canada with the family dog, Seamus, confined to a kennel strapped to the roof of the car, as more than just a weird and attention-grabbing story.

“It’s a window onto Mitt Romney’s soul,” Neil said. “The guy really has no sensibility, no heart, no compassion.”

Neil and Mitt Is Mean cofounders Brad Bannon, Martin Dunleavy and Bob McDevitt  decided to form a super PAC because they all feel that “the character a candidate possesses tells you the nature of the policies they will pursue,” Neil said. Anyone who can treat a dog as Mitt Romney treated Seamus is unfit to lead the nation, they conclude.

“It tells you that if he were to become President of the United States, he would take Paul Ryan’s budget and try to pass it, get rid of Obamacare with nothing to take its place,” Neil said. “Mitt thinks that the same people who tanked our economy are the folks who should be running the world. I am not willing to give him the keys to the car that is the American economy, strap the middle class – the working class – to the roof of the car, and drive us all off a cliff.”

Neil is a persuasive guy who convinced one very special Republican to switch sides – his wife, Debbie. The couple met in 1992, when Debbie was working as the legislative director for the Republican U.S. congressman Neil was running against. Neil doesn’t claim he persuaded her all by himself – it was George W. Bush’s decision to block stem cell research that caused her to switch sides, he says.

That decision was made to please the far right, ignoring the desperate need of many people whose diseases could be cured through stem cell research. In much the same vein, Mitt Romney has shifted from positions Neil says most Americans regard as reasonable to stances calculated to please Republicans. Now, he says, it’s time to appeal to people’s compassion, and ask everyone to do what they can to prevent Mitt Romney from winning the White House.

McCarthy family pets French, a blind shih-tzu, and Mrs. Beasley, the cat, live together amicably.

Love and compassion for animals crosses party lines, and Neil is certain that spreading the story of Seamus will help win many people over to voting against Romney, and even to donating for the cause.

“I’ve told this story to many people over the last six months, and 1,000 palms have smacked 1,000 foreheads in disbelief,” he said. Because Neil speaks with people across the political spectrum, he’s certain at least a good proportion of those he’s related Seamus’ story to  are either independent voters or Republicans. Love and concern for animals is no respecter of party lines.

Spreading the word in swing states during the runup to the election will be effective, Neil says. “This episode [Seamus on the roof] is a good handle for explaining to people who Romney is, and for energizing people who love their pets, and would never do to them what Romney did to his. We’ll get out there and make sure the disaster that would be the Romney presidency will never come to pass.”

Neil credits New York Times columnist Gail Collins with making sure the story of Seamus – first surfaced in a 2007 Boston Globe story – doesn’t go away. “I love her,” says Neil, comparing her with Maureen Dowd, another New York Times columnist whose work he enjoys. “Their styles are similar – they both have a real nose for irony, and they’re funny.”

Paul Ryan’s Budget Inspired by Ayn Rand, Not Jesus Christ – Brad Bannon (usnews.com)

Paul Ryan’s Budget Inspired by Ayn Rand, Not Jesus Christ

April 27, 2012

Republican politicians like to wear their faith on their sleeves and talk about their Christian values. But when it comes to practicing what you preach, the GOP has a long way to go.

Republicans don’t have any more respect for the Bible than they do the Constitution. Conservatives talk about their dedication to the Constitution but they support the Arizona anti-immigration law which is a mockery of our founding document. Right wingers talk about their the importance of their faith but they completely ignore the biblical injunctions to help the poor.

On Tuesday, 90 faculty members and priests at Georgetown, the Jesuit University in Washington, criticized Mitt Romney’s budget buddy, Rep. Paul Ryan, for saying his budget plan which includes cuts in antipoverty programs and school lunches and tax breaks for bankers and billionaires—was inspired by his Catholic faith. The letter to Ryan reads, “Your budget appears to reflect the values of your favorite philosopher, Ayn Rand, rather than the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
