McCain: Foreign $$$ Helping Mitt’s #AmericanFamiliesLast Agenda

Adelson funding Romney Super PAC with ‘foreign money’

Senator and Romney presidential campaign surrogate John McCain (R-AZ) said Thursday that casino magnate Sheldon Adelson is indirectly injecting millions of dollar in Chinese “foreign money” into Mitt Romney‘s presidential election effort.

“Much of Mr. Adelson’s casino profits that go to him come from his casino in Macau, which says that obviously, maybe in a roundabout way foreign money is coming into an American political campaign,” McCain said in an interview on PBS’s News Hour.

“That is a great deal of money, and we need a level playing field and we need to go back to the realization… that we have to have a limit on the flow of money and corporations are not people,” he said.

Adelson announced Thursday he would be giving $10 million to the pro-Romney Super PAC Restore Our Future, and reports stated his future contributions to pro-Romney groups could be “limitless.”

The issue of foreign money finding its way into presidential politics comes up each cycle. In 1996, the Clinton administration was engulfed in a huge Chinese political funding controversy known at the time as “Chinagate,” whereby agents of China funded Democratic political organizations. 22 were convicted of felonies and many were associates of Bill Clinton and Al Gore.

Coming Next Week – We can’t wait! Seamus Inspires New Tale

WASHINGTON — The tale has inspired ample political commentary, and more than a few columns for the New York TimesGail Collins. Now, the story of Mitt Romney’s former dog Seamus could start becoming a profit-maker.

A new book, “Dog on the Roof! On the Road with Mitt and the Mutt,” is being released next month by the reputable publisher Simon and Schuster.

The book depicts the Romney family — using early photos of Mitt, his wife, Ann, and their five boys — crammed into a station wagon with a dog atop it. The family is shown driving to cities around the country as the authors use sing-song verse to lampoon Romney’s positions on immigration, gay rights, his ties to Wall Street — and the fact that he once drove to Canada with his dog in a container on top of the car.

Adelson’s Donations Could Be “Limitless”

A well-placed source in the Sheldon Adelson camp tells Forbes that further donations from the casino billionaire to Super PACs supporting Mitt Romney will be “limitless.”

The source says Adelson will do “whatever it takes” to defeat President Obama and that “no price is too high” to protect the U.S. from what he sees as Obama’s “socialization” of America.

Mean Mitt Pushes Lifting Ban On  Health Insurance Company

Discrimination Against Americans With Pre-Existing Conditions

Mitt Romney this week has been highlighting his opposition to Obamacare, telling voters and donors of his eagerness to see the U.S. Supreme Court strike the law down and a willingness to do the deed from the White House if the court does not.

“You know, regardless of what they do, it’s going to be up to the next president to either repeal and replace Obamacare or to replace Obamacare,” Romney told a crowd in Orlando on Tuesday.

But it’s Romney’s unabashed public opposition to one of the law’s most popular provisions – a ban on health insurance company discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions – that is once again stirring the political pot.

The former governor said this week, reiterating a position he’s articulated in the past, that only Americans who have had constant, uninterrupted insurance coverage should be guaranteed access to a health plan, regardless of any pre-existing conditions.

Asked to clarify his position on Wednesday, Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul confirmed that the former governor does not support the across-the-board consumer protections for pre-existing conditions as written into Democrats’ health care law.

“Governor Romney supports reforms to protect those with pre-existing conditions from being denied access to a health plan while they have continuous coverage,” she said first in a statement to the Huffington Post later obtained by ABC News.

MEAN MACHINE ALERT: Adelson Gives $10 Million to Romney Super PAC

Casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, who helped keep Newt Gingrich’s failed presidential campaign alive during the GOP primaries, is giving $10 million to a super PAC supporting Mitt Romney, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The $10 million donation to the super PAC Restore Our Future appears to be the largest single donation toward Romney’s efforts so far.

Boehner Will Try to Extend Bush Tax Cuts for Another Year

House Speaker John Boehner told CNBC that he would move legislation to extend the current tax rates for another year.

The so-called Bush tax cuts were extended once already but are due to expire at the end of the year.

Said Boehner: “The reason this isn’t permanent is that — and only for a year — is that we really do want to fix our tax code, both the corporate code and the personal code, bring down tax rates, get rid of all the excess deductions and credits and all the carve-outs and nonsense that we have in the code today.”
