Mitt is Mean: Why Romney is Still Dogged by Seamus | SpareChangeNews

“Clearly there are a number of people who are honestly upset. This is not a respectful use of a family member. On an emotional level, it’s ‘Oh my gosh, you did that to your dog?’ ”

Story of Romney dog Seamus hounding Mitt

The dog-on-the-roof story was offered by the Globe as evidence of Romney’s knack for “emotion-free crisis management.” Well, OK. Picking a president is all about deciding who’ll have a finger on the button for the next four years, and the last thing we need is a guy who loses his cool when the stink hits the windshield at 60 mph.

Mitt is Mean SuperPac Asks Romney to Donate Money from Fundraiser to Animal Rescue Shelters

Boston, MA- Tonight lobbyist Fred Malek is hosting a $20,000 a ticket fundraiser at his home in McLean Virginia to celebrate Ann Romney’s birthday. You may know that Malek is a Washington lobbyist and the former Nixon White House aide helped compile Richard Nixon’s enemy list. But you may not know that Malek was arrested for barbecuing a dog.

Brad Bannon, the spokesman for the SuperPac, Mitt is Mean today called on Mitt Romney to donate the money from tonight’s fundraiser to animal rescue shelters. Bannon said “Fred Malek’s behavior is reprehensible and Mitt Romney’s treatment of his own dog, Seamus is unconscionable. The least that Romney can do tonight is to donate the money from the fundraiser to animal rescue shelters which really care about cats and dogs.”

Bannon pointed to Mitt Romney’s treatment of his own dog, Seamus as another example of Romney’s insensitivity. In 1983, the Romney family took a vacation and drove 12 hours to Canada from the Romney mansion in Massachusetts. During the entire trip, the family’s Irish setter, Seamus was exiled to a crate strapped on top of the station wagon. When Seamus answered the call of nature and rained on the Romney parade, mean Mitt hosed the car and poor Seamus down.

Mitt Romney Says ‘Dignity Of Work’ Only Available To Women In The Paid Workforce – Forbes

“I wanted to increase the work requirement,” said Romney. “I said, for instance, that even if you have a child 2 years of age, you need to go to work. And people said, ‘Well that’s heartless.’ And I said, ‘No, no, I’m willing to spend more giving day care to allow those parents to go back to work. It’ll cost the state more providing that daycare, but I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.’”

Mitt Romney Fund-raiser Host Has Dog Problems,NY MAG

By now, everyone knows the story of Seamus, the Romney family dog that got strapped to roof of the family car, resulting in a million jokes and the seriously extensive Dogs Against Romney blog. They have another Romney-related canine bombshell this week about the hosts of Ann Romney’s birthday fund-raiser, via Jezebel:

On Monday, Romney will be the beneficiary of a fundraiser that is being hosted for him by Fred Malek. Who is Malek? He is the former President of Marriott Hotels and Northwest Airlines; former assistant to U.S. Presidents Richard Nixon and H.W. Bush; and former National Finance Committee Co-Chair for John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Fred Malek is also part of a group of men who were arrested after killing and barbecuing a dog in a city park in Peoria, IL in 1959.

Malek and his buddies were reportedly drunk and covered in blood when police found them. Animal-cruelty charges were eventually dropped against Malek and all but one man, who “testified that he had struck and killed the dog with a piece of 2-by-4, and that he alone had skinned the animal and tried to cook it.” Malek was just 22 at the time — people change and he’s obviously come a long way — but try telling that to Gail Collins.

Romney fundraiser dogged by past | ohmidog!

Update on the breaking news on Nixon Aide and major Romney fundraiser Fred Malek

via Romney benefactor also dogged by past | ohmidog!.

Former Nixon Aide Fred Malek to host a lavish fundraiser for Mitt Romney on wife Ann Romney‘s birthday. Malek  was once arrested in an incident involving the killing and barbecuing of a dog.

“Malek worked with the administrations of both Richard Nixon and George H.W. Bush.  While in the Nixon administration, he compiled, at the president’s request, a list of Jews in the federal government. In 1988,  Malek resigned from the Republican National Committee over questions about his earlier role in President Nixon’s push to oust Jews from government positions.

Malek apologized and, as with the case of the cooked dog, denied playing a substantial role in the scheme.”

This man is disgusting, and to have Mitt Romney allow this guy to host a big fundraiser, on his wife’s birthday no less, shows that he puts  himself and his ambitions above the everday people and families of America. – Mimi
